It at least for me was very believable and fresh. Quinn, who is conflicted with her needs with Sam and her hidden love for Nick. I honestly don''t blame her with her conflcted emotions for both of these guys, I loved them both myself. What girl wouldn''t love to have two Nice, protective guys to love her.
The Price

From them on, it was an intense, action-packed read, with plenty of mystery and twists. I, for one, was taken by surprise at many of the twists and turns. The writing style is straight-forward and informative, allowing the reader to easily get inside Jimmy''s head and experience the story with him.

Speaking of Jimmy, I thought his character development was spot-on. From the beginning, we see Jimmy change from a young, almost naive teen, to a confident young wizard who will do whatever it takes to protect himself and his family. But, as Jimmy begins to learn the true cost of his magic, we see that young boy showing through again. Read more...

It''s an imaginative story of love, betrayal and forgiveness, filled with intriguing characters you won''t soon forget. The dialogue is sparse and the tale is short but there is an abundant amount of character growth and plenty of plot points to ponder. There''s also enough magic and surprises to keep those pages turning. I never knew quite where the story was going to lead. I''m now on the hunt for her other work. Read more...

Sword Woman and Other Historical Adventures

These eighteen historical short stories and poems display a different Robert E. Howard than the sword and sorcerer fame. The entries are enhanced by a terrific introduction (Scott Oden) and an insightful article (Howard Andrew Jones) that provides the audience insight into the depth of the late great author. The tales bring alive several centuries and locations in the medieval Mediterranean. During the crusades, Cormac FitzGeoffrey follows Richard the Lion-hearted into battle as "Hawk of Outremer". Having cut short her unwanted wedding vows title character Dark Agnes de la Fere turns to the sword in "Sword Woman" and "Blade for France. In eleventh century Cairo, Spaniard Diego de Guzman thirst for vengeance but to achieve his quest he must pretend to be a Muslim in "Hawks over Egypt". Whether it is "The Road of Eagles" in the year of our Lord 1595 at the Black Sea or traveling on "The Road of Azrael" as Kosru Malik chronicles the road of death, these are terrific historical sword adventures that showcase the late authors depth and width. Artist John Watkiss provides B and W illustrations that enhance the tales. This collection contains entertaining escapades in the first half of the previous millennium. Read more...

Well let''s just say all hell breaks loose in a battle to save Zoe from Samil who has his own not so kind agenda for his progeny. All in all a very good start to a rather interesting concept for a story. Nice and refreshing to meet a different type of Character/Breed etc. The ending was great. Nice action, lead-ins for what''s to come. His world-building touch is deft in this first book of the Tanyth Fairport adventures no long, rambling history lessons, just the right amount of scene-setting to whet the appetite for more. As always in Lowell's books, the characters immediately draw the reader into their world Tanyth and the villagers quickly seem like friends and neighbors and the bad guys are a believable blend of menace and denseness. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next Tanyth Fairport adventure. Read more...

The characters are fully-realized, and the plot zips right along. My favorite thing about it is the relationship between Selwyn and Farold, who were enemies in life, but grow to be friends after Farold''s death and transformation into a bat. Their banter is hilarious, and I also loved Elswyth, who is probably the smartest, and certainly the most sensible character in the book. Highly recommended for fantasy/mystery fans age 10 and up. Read more...

The return of Paks to the storyline was a welcomed re-addition to the storyline, and even though you can see a lot of foreshadowing for the next book, it doesn't detract from the storyline as a whole. It''s wierd, given the love/happiness/sharing end of the book. But part of what makes it so funny. And we go from teeny-bob passsing notes in class, texting, talking IRL that sounds almost authentic to these characters, to gobs of stuff that they are supposed to say spontaneously that has clearly been labored over, again and again, the author sweating and digging deep to get it just so horribly wrong. Read more...

The characters are wonderful, deliciously complex, and more than typical stereotypes of good or evil. I love the characterization of Lucifer''s daughter, Desolation. At times she is such a teenager. Other times, she has the strength of her mixed parentage. From the first chapter, I cared about Desolation. The plot moved quickly in waves of seduction, regret, sin, and love. I love the use of Norse mythology to explain the worlds and characters within, as Lucifer = Loki, Asgard = Heaven, Midgard = Earth, etc. I laughed, cried, cared, and loved, and did not want to put this book down. Read more...

The Hunter and the Hunted: Two Stories of the Otherworld (AN OTHERWORLD NOVELLA)

It’s not a good sign when Elena Michaels and Clayton Danvers resort to everyday activities on their long-awaited honeymoon in St. Louis. But their encroaching boredom is about to take a back seat to an unexpected threat that catches Clay’s attention. A non-pack werewolf is clearly stalking them—out to claim Elena for himself—and Clay has no intention of letting the upstart mutt spoil their romantic getaway, even if that means deceiving Elena as he pursues the rival werewolf on his own. Originally part of an anthology of supernatural romance stories, STALKED is the perfect introduction to Kelley Armstrong’s Otherworld series and an action-packed interlude for fans to revisit some of their favorite characters.

In OFF-DUTY ANGEL, dark witch and half-demon Eve Levine is desperate for a little entertainment while her lover Kristof Nast is detained in afterlife court—enough to volunteer an extra week’s worth of angel corps duty just to pass the time. Luckily something even better comes up: a real celestial bounty-hunter mission to trail a shaman, someone who might prove to be a useful lead in Kristof’s court case. And they don't strain for profound insight. And they certainly aren't overwritten or full of MFA huffing and puffing. They are clever, imaginative, engaging and rewarding. That's a lot right there, and certainly enough to make this book worth a close look. Read more...

This is a nice, quick read that will allow readers to get to know one of the more mysterious characters from the books, and will take them on a completely different adventure than we've previously seen in the series. I would give this a 4/5, and suggest that if you haven't read any of the Assassin's Curse books, you go do that ASAP! Read more...

Needing your child to break you out of police custody or jail? Putting her in charge of your finances at age twelve? Horrible! Their relationship as mother and daughter is fraught with distrust, anger, and resentment, but despite all the problems they have with one another, they still love one another and Marguerite is still a person. It's only toward the end of the novel that we get a good sense of just how human she is with the help of Jacques, her manager. Read more...

At first glance, Willowberg seemed like any other college town to newcomer Amelia Caldwell. But after a whirlwind of strange events, she now knows the truth Willowberg is run by vampires and her soulmate, Mitchell Lang, is their leader. And if that wasn't enough, Amelia also learned that she is a witch.

The vampires and humans coexisted with relative peace, or at least they did until the vampire hunters arrived. Now, Amelia finds herself at the center of a showdown, fighting not only for her freedom and that of her new vampire family, but also for the lives of Willowberg's residents.

But when Amelia's branches of destiny cross paths, a long forgotten darkness falls upon the town. For any chance at victory, she must revisit her past and come face to face with the ultimate challenge: a fate that was decided by a force much closer to her than she could ever have imagined.

Will darkness prevail, or will Amelia find the strength to mend what has been broken?

R. Martin’s beloved Song of Ice and Fire series, which started with A Game of Thrones, is bursting with a variety and richness of landscapes—from bitter tundra to arid wasteland and everything in between—that provide a sense of scale unrivaled in contemporary fantasy. Now this dazzling set of maps, featuring original artwork from illustrator and cartographer Jonathan Roberts, transforms Martin’s epic saga into a world as fully realized as the one around us.

The centerpiece of this gorgeous collection is guaranteed to be a must-have for any fan: the complete map of the known world, joining the lands of the Seven Kingdoms and the lands across the Narrow Sea for the first time in series history. But this is just one of many unique maps that aren’t available anywhere else. There is an alternate version that tracks the movements of the series’ protagonists throughout their vast world, along with more detailed versions of the western, middle, and eastern thirds of the world a full map of Westeros, combining North and South one of the Dothraki Sea and the Red Wastes and the Braavos city map. And here, too, are fan favorites detailing everything from urban sprawl to untamed wilds: maps of King’s Landing The Wall and Beyond the Wall the Free Cities and Slaver’s Bay, Valyria, and Sothyros.

Never before has the entire scope of Martin’s universe been so exhaustively and fascinatingly depicted. The maps in this beautiful, one-of-a-kind atlas will enrich your reading Read more...

I do not normally read anything as dark as this, however this author dives straight in where lesser beings fear to tread! From the first page his main character starts to wrestle with moral dilemmas. Most of the other characters don't have a great deal to do and are minor, but they all have some sort of hook that makes them just that much more than two-dimensional. The book is told from Lee's point of view, so all of the characters are coloured by her perception of them. This gives some of them an extra dimension, such as Matt, who is her ex-boyfriend and their contact in the District Attorney's office. Read more...

The inclusion of a page or three from other authors was confusing to say the least. Initially, I thought it was a download error. Read more...

I really enjoyed this new book in the world previously created and liked getting to know more about this previously introduced characters. It was also fun to get to see other characters from the previous series and see what they are up to now. It helps to satisfy my curiosity because I always want to know what happens to them next. Read more...

Waterfall (Dragon's Fate, #1)

It’s easy to fall in love. Destiny requires tooth and claw.

Dragon’s Fate, Book 1

Curses are designed to be cruel, but the one afflicting Jordan and his brothers is almost beyond bearing. A dragon born by blood magic, he is an immortal trapped in human form, with only one hope of finding his eternal mate. He must bite her—and pray she lives.

One dark night, he senses the wounded heartbeat of a woman in the shadows, begging him to end her life. Ever the gentleman, he chivalrously obliges her wish. Only to discover three days later that she lives. And has married another.

Celeste always dreamed of marrying for love, but the nightmare of living in her father’s home drives her to wed the Duke of Hudson. Yet on her wedding eve, she is compelled to follow a mysterious man who professes to know her secret. A man with curious blue scales on his muscular arms—whose shadowed eyes reflect a dangerous mix of destiny and desire…

Warning: This novel contains explicit sex, sex in water, four super-hot dragon brothers, and a curse born from magical power that has left them wondering who they are all their lives.
